As the method proves it effectiveness to the market, it builds a rapport between clients and providers of the service. As people acknowledge the abilities and qualities of the technology, there are those who are curious as to how the process is conducted. Here is a quick rundown of the process of pipe bursting:
Step 1: Evaluate the situation.
There are a couple of things to be mindful of before the actual process of pipe bursting takes place. Some contractor will suggest inspecting the interior façade of the pipe for damages and other issues that may affect the process or that will make it completely impossible to conduct. Through this inspection, they can also attest that the damage obtained by the pipe will not be a hindrance to the pipe bursting process. If this is the case, then you are moments away from having a good-as-new pipe system. The inspection will inform the contractors of the damage and the steps they have to conduct and the possible issues they might encounter along the way.
There are cases, however, that the bursting process will not be helpful and will only contribute to further damage to the pipe. The rehabilitation process used on a pipe should conform to its needs and the amount of effort it can withstand.
Contractors often use CCTV cameras especially made to be fed into the interior of a pipe for this process. This type of system gives accurate and detailed feeds to the contractor that is very useful for the bursting process.
Step 2: Get rid of any possible obstruction for the process.
Pipe bursting process makes use of tools that are quite sensitive to root intrusion and other obstructions that hinder water flow inside the pipe. That being said, when there are obstructions during the actual pipe bursting process, it might not go as smooth as it is expected to.
This is the reason why the initial clean-up process is very important in pipe bursting. It gets rid of any and all obstructions inside the pipe, from root intrusions to blockages and even to rocks that made their way inside the pipe. One way of getting these obstructions flushed out of the pipe is to use a water jet hose. There are also other ways to clean the pipe by using different cleaning equipment.
Step 3: Prepare the pipe.
After removing blockages and other obstructions, the next process is to prepare the tools to be used. This is to ensure that the process will go as smoothly as possible. The tools that you should need are; winch machine, replacement pipe and the bursting head. Also, there should be two access points for the bursting process. One point is used as an entrance point for the bursting tool while the opposite end is the exit point.
Step 4: Bursting process.
The bursting tool is inserted through the entrance point to start the bursting process. As the bursting tool goes through the old pipe, the replacement pipe is attached to the tail of the tool so that the process is simultaneously done. Make sure that the bursting tool fits through the entrance point and the host pipe. As the process goes through, the head is being pulled by a cable that is connected to a truck stationed near the exit point.
Step 5: Finishing touches.
The last stage is clean-up and post inspection of the pipe. Just because the new pipe is settled in, does not mean that the job or the plumbers and contractors are done. They have to make sure that the process indeed went smoothly and that there are no issues regarding the newly installed pipe. They have to check for cracks of breakage that may have occurred during the process. If everything went well after all the post tests have been conducted, the new pipe is ready to be utilised.
