Hot Water Problem in Newtown

Christine opened the door with nervous excitement. She arrived much too early than was necessary but today was her first day on a trial as assistant manager and she wanted everything to be perfect.

Christine loved everything about working in hospitality. She enjoyed dealing with people and also the fast pace that often accompanied it. She never liked to sit still so this line of work was perfect.

There was much that needed to be done before opening so she tied work her apron around her waist and walked briskly to the tap to wash her hands. She allowed the water run for a minute while she tied her blonde hair back into a ponytail. She immersed her hands in the water expecting the comfort of warm water, but jumped when he fingers only found the sharp sting of icy water. She thought she must have forgotten to turn the hot water on, in her eagerness to proceed with the morning duties.

She quickly released more hot water and waited only to find that the icy water still remained. Christine felt a prickle of panic start to creep through her body as she made another attempt for hot water. This time she shut off the cold completely and solely left the hot. After 2 minutes she cautiously touched the water which showed no change. “Please, not today!” she said desperately. Christine realised her worst fears had come to life. The hot water wasn’t working!

“How am I supposed to run this place with no hot water?” she thought, as she tried to suppress the sick feeling that was building in the pit of her stomach.

Christine didn’t have much time so she knew she had to act fast. She ran to the phone, and grabbed a directory from the shelf beside it. “Stay calm,” she repeatedly told herself. There were lists of plumbers that appeared in the directory but Christine was only after one particular name. This agency was from Newtown and Christine had heard from many people around the area about how fantastic they were. They were known to service Annandale, Camperdown, Chippendale, Glebe, Stanmore, Petersham, Leichhardt, Lilyfield, Erskineville, St Peters, Marrickville and Enmore. They had many happy customers so Christine was confident in contacting them first.

The phone rang and someone answered “Thank Goodness,” said Christine. She arranged for the Newtown plumber to arrive as soon as possible to have a look. Luckily the plumber was close by and was able to arrive within 20 minutes.

The Plumber informed her that the hot water service needed some valves changes, so the plumber went ahead and replaced the valves on the hot water heater.

Christine was struck by how friendly and professional the young man was as he explained what the problem was with the hot water tank. She was delighted that he was able to continue on to repair the problem at the same time.

Christine was so ecstatic that disaster had been avoided and that the café was still able to open at its usual time. Her managers were so impressed with how she handled the situation that she was offered the job permanently. Christine was also ecstatic with the Newtown plumbing company and continues to rave about them at every opportunity!
